In electrical mapping experiments on Langendorff-perfused rat hearts, the control group and the group treated with crystalloid cardioplegia (CC) combined with University of Wisconsin (UW) preservation solution for 8 hours showed similar isochronal maps and dispersion maps. Compared to the group treated with UW preservation solution alone for 8 hours, the left ventricle exhibited stronger electrical conductivity and faster conduction velocity. The degree of conduction dispersion and sinus rhythm recovery time were comparable to those in the control group, whereas the UW treatment group for 8 hours showed a significant increase in both parameters.

(a) A schematic illustrating the experimental design for experimental validation of effect of CC+UW. Langendoff-perfused rat cardiac intraventricular pressure, electrical conduction and rhythm were measured after SCS. (b) The representative intra LV pressure curve in control group, UW-8 h group and CC+UW-8 h group. The histogram for LV end-systolic peak pressure (c), LV end-diastolic peak pressure (d) and LV pulse pressure (e) in 3 groups. (f) Conduction dispersion maps and isochronal maps of LV in control group, UW-8 h group and CC+UW-8 h group. (g) Schematic illustration of the locations of electrical mapping and ECG electrodes in rat heart. Histogram for time (i), (l), velocity (j), (m) and dispersion (k), (n) of LV and RV. (h) Histogram for sinus recovery time. (o) Representative ECG for 3 groups. Histogram for heart rate (p), QRS time (q), QT time (r), ventricular effective refractory period (s) for the 3 groups.
