Introduction
This system is a comprehensive set of equipment designed to perform ex vivo cardiac perfusion experiments. In these experiments, the heart is removed from an animal and connected to a specialized perfusion device. It is then perfused with a solution to maintain cardiac activity. This system is used to study changes in cardiac function and hemodynamics under pathological and physiological conditions. It is an effective tool for studying cardiac physiology, pathology, pharmacology, and myocardial biochemistry and metabolism. With its high repeatability and stability, this system ensures reliable research results.
Key Features
- Fully integrated for seamless operation with Electrical and Optical Mapping Systems.
- Water-jacketed circuit for consistent and precise temperature control.
- High-quality Altec perfusion tubing that maintains constant pressure or flow and supports degassing of the perfusate.
- The water-jacketed reservoir maintains temperature and gases the perfusion buffer.
- The water-jacketed bubble trap effectively removes air bubbles from the perfusate.
Applications
- Cardiomyocyte Isolation
- In Vitro tissue engineering studies
- Electrophysiological assessments (ECG, MAP, electrical and optical mapping)
- Myocardial contractility analysis
- Pharmacological safety testing (hemodynamics, cardiac arrest protocols)
- Cardiac disease modeling, including atrial fibrillation, ischemia-reperfusion injury, myocardial infarction, ventricular fibrillation
- Investigation of cardiac dysfunction caused by diabetes and hypertension
Langendorff Perfusion System
- Langendorff perfusion is a simple perfusion method in which oxygenated Krebs-Henseleit (KH) solution or Tyrode's solution is perfused through the aorta directly into the coronary arteries to maintain cardiac activity.
- The perfusion solution does not enter the atria or ventricles because there is no fluid in the ventricles. This perfusion method is critical for demonstrating the mechanisms of cardiac pacing.
- The Langendorff perfusion system offers a flow rate range of 0.02–50 ml/min, precise temperature control from
the room temperature to +100℃with a stability of ±0.1°C, and a pump speed resolution of 0.1 rpm for accurate perfusion and experimental precision.
