Previous studies suggested that conductive ECPs display improved electrical integration with infarcted hearts by detecting CX-43 protein expression in the infarcted region.
In this article they measured the electrical conduction velocities between healthy and infarcted myocardium in isolated Langendorff perfused hearts using an electrical mapping system to directly assess the level of electrical integration.

B) Representative epicardial activation maps were recorded from the healthy myocardium to the infarcted myocardium in study groups. Red: The earliest activation, blue: the latest activation, and numbers indicate activation time (ms).
C) The longitudinal conduction velocities between the healthy and the infarcted myocardium in study groups were calculated based on epicardial activation maps.
